Lorde is a lot more than Royals
And Lorde’s music is Pure Heroine (!) as her first album is called, which is a perfect metaphor for the hypnotizing and addictive rhythm of her songs that can take you to the darkest places inside your mind.
It was about time I wrote about a musical GIRL star and since personally I got caught up with Lorde’s whole album from the very first time I listen to it, I must accept that I was unsure of liking her at the beginning but now I can tell you that although at first sight she looks too hipster to stand or even if all her songs seem the same to you initially…
Oh so rad | via Tumblr on We Heart Ithttp://weheartit.com/entry/105443841/via/lindamandaa
I’ve learned that every song is different in the best way ❤
when you take your time to enjoy their particular sound
and the well picked words for expressing daily situations
that seem almost poetic when she sings about them,
you can feel identified and even optimistic within the low tunes of Lorde’s style.
And YET for those who haven’t listen to Royals or Tennis Court (which are her most known songs)
And for those who haven’t met her at  all, well, she’s was common girl with a big passion: music. She didn’t dream much of fame and money because where she comes from girls are wannabes-queen bees and boys are… boys.
† I follow back †
I mean, she’s from New Zealand but above all she comes from the same place where we all come from ~the real world~ and apart from being a great singer and just a 17 year old girl who owns 2 Grammy already, she also writes her own lyrics that are inspired by this world far away of plastic beauty and expensive cars
But as she said when interviewed “just from hanging out with my friends, and things that I see and hear in those situations (..) Even when I’m at a party, I’m analyzing it and thinking about it in the context of how I would write about it. That side of me never switches off.”

Wallflower 🌸

So now you see, she’s a wallflower who sings what she has seen (and perhaps that’s why I like her even more) because she understands what is  like to be an average teenager:::
In the same interview she said Teenage life, in New Zealand anyway, can be so mundane and so boring. You feel like it’s the waiting period of your life (…) it can be frustrating sometimes and I wanted to portray that instead of just, like, ‘yay!'”
So ‘yay!’ I felt kind of identified, what about you?
When she was asked “what inspires your songs?” she answered “I think young people are the most creative and the coolest—people that we should be learning from.” and there she won me. Joke, but I totally agree with her. Being young can be so inspiring. Even if we don’t feel creative the whole time or most importantly even when we don’t feel the coolest, her music reminds us that we ARE cool and we can be creative and overall we are not alone in the feeling
So I know this post took a lot more words to get to today’s SONG but in my opinion it’s worth the wait. Now you know a bit more about a new and young artist and I hope you can take the time to enjoy her musical approach 🙂
Her official music video of the song “Team” was released on December 2013 and isn’t over produced but simply cool. As a -warning- it’s a little alternative as her whole style but possibly you’ll amuse yourself if you submerge in the lyrics.
…And here the iluminating lyrics:
Wait ’til you’re announced
We’ve not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon your greatness
That you’ll send the call out (Send the call out…)
Call all the ladies out
They’re in their finery
A hundred jewels on throats
A hundred jewels between teeth
Now bring my boys in
Their skin in craters like the moon
The moon we love like a brother, while he glows through the room
Dancin’ around the lies we tell
Dancin’ around big eyes as well
Even the comatose they don’t dance and tell
We live in cities you’ll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we’re on each other’s TEAM
I’m kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air, so there
So all the cups got broke shards beneath our feet but it wasn’t my fault
And everyone’s competing for a love they won’t receive
‘Cause what this palace wants is release(…)
I’m kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air, so there
I’m kinda older than I was when I revelled without a care, so there (..)
