12* Too close

A month ago I didn’t know Alex Clare at all but today -I had to- write about him since two different people recommend me this song of him in the same month!

Alex Clare - TLA Philly - Philadelphia, PA

This hipster look alike man with his newsboy cap and his long beard is just 28 years old, comes from Great Britain and writes his own lyrics.

The music gender of Alexander George Clare’s debut single “Too close” is a mix between soul, dubstep and alternative rock.

His song was nominated in 2013 for the Brit Awards and it was used for Microsft’s publicity.

His official music video is very original and appropiate in the way it represents the strenght of the feeling expressed in the song…

The true story of a confusing yet inescapable point of many relationships, when suddenly you feel “too close” to make it work but how to explain that’s not your choice to fail in the compromise but things get complicated inside our minds without a reason and suddenly we just need time without wanting to hurt anybody.

It’s always a tough inner battle to fight. Feelings vs reason. But we all go through moments like that and sometimes the best we can do leads us to a not so comfortable position, anyhow eventually evey battle comes to an end and sooner than you think you’ll feel relief…

…And the revealing lyrics :

You know I’m not one to break promises.
I don’t want to hurt you but I need to breathe.
At the end of it all, you’re still my best friend,
but there’s something inside that I need to release.

Which way is right, which way is wrong?
How do I say that I need to move on?
You know we’re heading separate ways…

And it feels like I am just too close to love you,
There’s nothing I can really say.
I can lie no more, I can hide no more,
got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you, so I’ll be on my way…

You’ve given me more than I can return,
yet there’s also much that you deserve.
There’s nothing to say, nothing to do.
I’ve nothing to give, I must live without you.
You know we’re heading separate ways
