19* Full circle

Trying to break up a little with the past british posts, today a friend of mine recommend me a canadian indie rock band called “Half moon run”

Half Moon Run

but while researching about it,

I found that its 4 members lived in British Columbia,

BRITISH even though still canadian 😛

Today’s song is one of their singles from “Dark Eyes” their first -and right now- only album 🙂

Now, there are a few simple ways for a song to win my heart easily:

*One way is having an acoustic guitar introduction, which this song has.

*The other way is a fine voice that even without trying seems to be perfectly and casually talking intone, which also it has!

Moreover, is flawless when the music alone can make you understand the meaning of the song…

~If you want to know what I’m talking about, you should start playing their official music video (!)

Aside from the lyrics of “Full Circle” that express in a metaphorical, immaculate way the actions lead by pain, the oppresive feelings, the rise of a fallen spirit, addiction as synonym of resurrection in this upside-down reality, a fragile heart but a strong determination; the music of this song takes your emotions by the hand with up and down entonations, guided by the rhythm of the guitar’s clear sound.

Visually, this video is helplessly vintage something I aprreciate for the various shots of nature, old portraits in the walls, hipster outfits, iconic birds flying up in the skies in flocks, old style curtains and windows, the recurrent presence of a mirror and everything filmed as a blurry old projection…

Are you a half moon runner now?

…And the full lyrics :

Cap off kneeling at the back of the church,
Feeling water on your brow, if it’s healing it hurts
At first a sharpish pain that returns as a thought
That the needle in your skin will bring you closer to God
And I watch as your head turns full circle
Our hope was with a coffee and a medical text
It’s too easy knowin’ nothing blowing off the rest
And the riddles in the pages leave at too much to guess
And the worry cracks a fracture from your hip to your chestAs I watch as your head turns full circle

We got lost in the travels in the spiritual book
Missed the beaches from Nirvana and the way that they look
And the crooks they’re on the island they’re killin’ to keep runnin’
They’re running severance on the plastic and it seems to be working

Is that the best that I can do?
As I watch as your head turns full circle

You appear even tempered though your looks will deceive
And the sparks are always flying cause you drink for relief
With the heart of a child and the wit of a fool
It’s a wonder why I don’t try to build a wall around you

When I watch as your head turns full circle,
and I watch as your head turns full circle,
Yeah, I watch as your head turns full circle…
