My guilty pleasure: teen–pop songs
I can’t help but feeling guilty because this teenage artist may not be a master piece author, this songs usually can’t make you cry because of their “outerspace” beauty but still they make me smile.
There’s something about their tune, so easy going, cheesy and sweet.
Say HI to the new kid in the UK “young stars” block.
Just 16 years old, ear-expansion and blond hair.
He just released this song, his first single, like a week ago. Yeah, FRESH stuff in here!
The official music video of this song is so funny it made me cry ❤ not that it was actually supposed to be funny but this kid definitely let clear it was his first music video.
His silly walk-dance, with swag movements, funny jumps and turns, the actresses payed to act as fans and then trying to steal camera and lol with the “let’s run” move (!)
*You must watch the video to understand.
It is too british-styled of course, many views of the London Bridge, its sidewalk, the Big Ben, the London Eye but also some skateboard ramps and urban graffitis that matched with his beanie and coat or his gray t-shirt and the cool jacket.
He’s not too famous yet (prove of it: you can’t find him in wikipedia) he started uploading covers in his youtube channel and he has a twitter, instagram and facebook account for all his fans to follow his career. Also he has an official website where you can find merchandise to buy 😉
He is songwriter now and as I said, the lyrics may not be a master piece because at the end it seems like he just made a list of everything he likes in a girl don’t forgetting to promise that he isn’t lying when he sings about it or when he says she’s unique or when he promises he would fly into the sun to make her his girl (?)
At least it all sounds better when he says it with rhythm or when he tries to keep it stuck in our heads by repeating the same line more than 5 times as a chorus (oops, pop song’s fault)
Also a chorus with an acoustic guitar that lets the vocals shine while clapps are use as background is a common trait of pop songs.
In conclusion, if you’re about to start fan-girling over him, this song gives you all clues of what he’s looking in a girl:
-good music taste (listening to the Rolling Stones is a must)
-being free and wild (not caring about critics and may be getting a tattoo done)
-not being afraid to take his hand and run into the night
…And the cheesy lyrics:
I love her converse, rip piece
and the way she looks at me
No one does it better, I swear
She wears her hair down, makeup
She don’t even need that stuff
Taking pictures everywhere
And I would fight. I would run. I would fly into the sun
‘Cause I’ve never met a girl like you before
You don’t think you’re perfect but you’re everything I want and more
And I’ll try to make you mine cross my heart and I hope to die
that I’ve never met a girl like you before
She wears her headphones, Rolling Stones
They write all her favorite songs
Dancing around like she doesn’t care
She’s got a tattoo, who knew that she’s got a boyfriend too
But he don’t even know that I’m there
But if I told you’re the one
Would you take my hand and run into the night?
Baby, lets run…
