At second 1 from the official music video of today’s song you’ll find basically the reason why I haven’t post for almost two weeks.
When growing up we discover that there are inevitable events in life that require a bit more of attention/time/pacience than others and THIS is one of them… Did anybody say prom?
Oh, is Avril Lavigne
This canadian girl whose second name is Ramona and owns the title of “pop punk princess” is almost 30 but is never growing up.
I believe that the secret in this song relies at the boom box that with it’s contagious rhythm urges us to sing its lyrics at the top of our lungs. Or perhaps the secret comes after we start singing because it’s almost like shouting out what you’re hoping to never forget: staying forever young
Because it seems like “growing up” means becoming boring and frustrated, complicating love and relationships, forgetting our friends, looking for reasons to do what we like to do as if it wasn’t enough to say that “we just like it”, stop dreaming and start caring about others critics, yes, growing means changing (and sometimes not for good).
The positive side of all this is that Avril proposes a different point of view in which we choose never growing up by not ceasing to do what we love to do now that we’re young ❤
And I choose this. I choose writing about what I like, listening to the music I love, hanging out with the people that matters, doing what makes me smile and staying young at heart FOREVER by enjoying my life.
…And the inspiring lyrics (spanish/english):
Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs
With the boom box blaring
As we’re falling in love
I got a bottle of whatever
But let’s get in this truck, singing
Here’s to never growing up
Call up all our friends
Go hard this weekend
For no damn reason, I don’t think we’ll ever change
Meet you at the spot, half past ten o’clock
We don’t ever stop, and we’re never going to change
Say, won’t you say forever stay
If you stay forever hey
We can stay forever young
We’ll be running down the street, yelling kiss my ***
I’m like yeah whatever, we’re still living like that
When the sun’s going down, we’ll be raising our cups
Singing, here’s to never growing up…
We live like rock stars
Dance on every bar
This is who we are, I don’t think we’ll ever change
They say just grow up
But they don’t know us
We don’t give a ****
And we’re never going to change
