Ariana Grande ft. Nathan Sykes
I must confess I’m not such a big fan of Ariana. I got this issue of looking at her just as “Cat” (her character on Nickelodeon’s program “Victorious”) so I find it hard to appreciate her as a serious singer now though she’s got an amazing voice and when she was daiting a member of The Wanted she also had an amazing boyfriend ❤
This song was released in August 2013 before “The Mortal Instruments” premiere. You can watch some scenes of this movie inside the official music video and also a casual pair of stars on a recording session and then hanging out.
Today’s song seems to me a lullabby (it really helps me fall asleep) with its sweet and slow rhythm, not boring but relaxing piano chords, the constant snaps and thevoices joint.
About it’s meaning… it hurts “We almost knew what love was but almost is never enough”
Trying to lie to yourself is one of the worst and hardest things to do. But then accepting that there’s no one else to blame but yourself, isn’t easy at all. Knowing that you had a great chance but you let it go, is so painful. Regret is insufferable. The most hateful word in this world is: if. The second most hateful is: goodbye.
I just really hope that “in time our feelings will show” because we
shouldn’t can’t live with this doubt of -what could have been- and if neither of us was brave enough before to show our feelings maybe in the future we’ll get the chance we deserve to be in each others arms because we know we were made for each other and nobody should ever give up on love.
…And the sweet lyrics (spanish/english) :
I like to say we gave it a try
I like to blame it all on life
Maybe we just weren’t right
But that’s a lie, that’s a lie
And we can deny it as much as we want
But in time our feelings will show
Cause sooner or later
We’ll wonder why we gave up
The truth is everyone knows
Almost, almost is never enough
So close to being in love
If I would have known that you wanted me
The way I wanted you
Then maybe we wouldn’t be two worlds apart
But right here in each others arms
And we almost, we almost knew what love was
But almost is never enough
If I could change the world overnight
There’d be no such thing as goodbye
You’ll be standing right where you were
We’d get the chance we deserve
