57* Rude

Imagine having one thing in your mind so strong to make you jump out of bed (on a Saturday)… Here we listen about love but it could also be a hit of inspiration, a great idea, a good plan, a goal.

I’m back to school and I feel like I’m just in time of finding that -one big thing- that could make me wake up without trouble. At the moment I’m still a bit lost but instead of -one thing- I’m trying to think in diverse little things as making new friends, learning new stuff or just enjoying the weather, good music and long reads.

This lovely canadian reggae fusion band (with stylized name) its formed by 4 members, starring Nasri (songwriter and record producer) in the lead vocals, and has been active since 2012. Today’s song is part of their album “Don’t kill the magic” realeased this year and it is also their debut single, which tell us that they are just getting started!

The vibes of a relax summer can’t be better described than with reggae rhythm and hipster mood on. That’s why this song was a must-listen-to this summer 2014 (!) At least that’s what every radio broadcaster told us and I think they got it right 😉 don’t you?

If you’re not still convinced of the uniqueness of this melody, allow me to analyze the lyrics for you.

Because there’s more to realize than just the fact that this love song isn’t actually dedicated to a girl but to her father. An old fashioned man, so they say… but it’s 2014 so I’d say that who’s singing is also an old fashioned sweet dude that cares a lot about the opinion of his (hopefully) soon to be father-in-law.

To describe the feeling I get through Nasri’s raspy voice singing the first verses I must tell you first that guys wearing suits aren’t a common thing (at least that you work in an office which is not my case) so when girls see a guy wearing a suit almost automatically he seems attractive! So #imagine if you where the reason why he is wearing a suit ❤ if you’re a boy reading this and still don’t get the point: Imagine a beautiful girl in a dress and then finding out she’s wearing it because of you ❤ ❤

And last but not least, the official music video which is full of vintage-ness and hispter-ness 🙂 haha lovely too.

It has a colorful photography complemented with 60’s style snapshots, part of it is performed in a garage (old fashion style too) and between the scenery we can find a mummy, and vintage carpets on floor and walls!

This video’s costume is conformed mainly by beanies, jackets, big eyeglasses, print shirts and colorful socks that boys with long hair and sexy beard wear 😉

Some of my favorite moments in the video include when the lead singer is rejected by the old dude just because of his tender face that truly made me feel bad for him. And when his friends are telling him to marry that girl and giving him a group hug ❤ and also I loved Nasri dancing. The way he moves his body as a wave, jumping and stooping!

And finally that part when you think “this can’t get any more hipster” and you watch him getting married with his beanie in his head and her fiance wearing a flower crown and pearls in her neck.

…And here the lovely LYRICS (english/spanish) :

Saturday morning jumped out of bed
And put on my best suit
Got in my car and raced like a jet
All the way to you
Knocked on your door with heart in my hand
To ask you a question
Because I know that you’re an old fashioned man

Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life?
Say yes, say yes, because I need to know
You say I’ll never get your blessing
Till the day I die
Tough luck my friend
But the answer is no

Why you got to be so rude?
Don’t you know I’m human too?
Why you got to be so rude?
I’m going to marry her anyway
Marry that girl
Marry her anyway
Marry that girl
Yeah, no matter what you say
Marry that girl
And we’ll be a family

Why you got to be so rude?

I hate to do this
You leave no choice
I can’t live without her
Love me or hate me
We will be boys standing at that altar
Or we will run away to another galaxy, you know
You know she’s in love with me
She will go anywhere I go
