62* Waiting fot the next drug

Lots of “oh oh oh”‘s but it’s worth it.

Please go on and listen to this song right now!

The band who plays it is called “The 88” and though I would’ve swear it was some vintage band of the 80’s it turns out they are merely hipsters. I mean, my favorite formula, an indie-rock band with 4 members from Los Angeles who founded the group in 2002.

Also go watch “Friends with kids” online NOW because this song gets perfectly the essence of that movie in which btw “The 88” are in charge of the soundtrack.

I think these lyrics define pretty well a teenager emotioanl status: you want it, you feel like you need it and at the end you hate it. But those it gets better as you grow up?

… and here the Lyrics:

When you were young
What did you dream?
What did you love?
What would you be?

A rush from your head…
Down to your feet
And everything stopped.

And you wanted it so much.
You said you needed it so much.
But then you hated it so much.

You said you took it down
You took it now
You wanna go back to those bad days
Cryin like you’ve never been hurt
Waiting for the next drug

You said you’ll never be hurt

Under your coat
Under your sleeves
Now you’re a ghost
Nobody sees

You lay down your head
But you’ll never sleep
You’ll never forget…

How you wanted it so much.
You said you needed it so much.
But then you hated it so much.

You said you took it down
You took it now
You wanna go back to those bad days
Beating on somebodys car
Waiting for the next drug

You said you’d never be hurt
Crying like you’ve never been hurt
Waiting for the next drug

Now your shame is sticking out
It makes you wanna shout
“I’m so sorry”

(…)

When you were young
What did you dream?
