68* Long distance call

J’adore cette chanson!

If you haven’t heard a great french band lately… here you go. GO watch their music video and enjoy their music!

Phoenix

Indie rock band with 4 members (as usual)

From Versailles, France (not so usual)

Formed in 1999 and at the mean time they already have 5 studio albums.

Today’s song is a single from their 3rd album called “It’s never like that” released in 2006.

Pretty much all I have to say is they’re freaking cool. The first song I ever heard from them is called “Rome” and immediately I felt for the rhythm but after listening to “Long Distance Call” I felt completely in love.

Fast drums, guitar, up the pace, synthesizers and a voice with a light background. Feel the singer talking to you, telling you a story, his story, your story, it could be anybody’s story. C’est la vie… très jolie!

Here the distant lyrics (english/spanish)…

Where to go I had no idea
26.10 was the price to pay
A messed up kid with no ideals at all
I thought those 26.10 I shouldn’t give’em away

I remember this young guy died and I took his part
He got far too many stitches on his pretty face
Long time to see but I always thought us two would be serious
I was looking around town, thinking the same as you

I’m far gone but your long distance call
And your capital letters keep me asking for more

It’s never been like that
(…)

Where to go I had no idea about it
Most of the people do, there’re only doing just fine
I don’t wanna stay in place no more, see
Ain’t doing well well well, I am only doing just fine

long time no see, long time no say
Got little to tell, I don’t say much but I might
Something always told me us two would be serious
I am looking around town, thinking the same as you

(…)

Long time no see… Long time no say…
