89* Happy Ending

Back To The French amour!

Excuse my french but I actually thought this musical genius was from France because my favorite album from him The Origin of Love has several songs in french, for example: Elle m’a dit, Karen, L’Amour Dans Le Mauvais Temps and Un Soleil Mal Lune, and also he has other songs like Grace Kelly that have been traduced to frech but now I know he’s just a great fluent-french-speaker-lebanese-born british who lived in France since he was young!

Today’s song is totally glee-ish, its vocals are so in tune yet its lyrics seem quite dark, its sound is like a “hope” injection but its meaning is so sharp. So contradictory that it’s addictive!

Here’s the Official music video which I didn’t specially enjoyed since it seems  to me too slow and post produced… still very imaginative.

I think the lyrics can easily apply to all of us, anybody who has ever loved knows what each of the words in this song mean. Or could there really be any other way to love if not “like it’s forever”?

…And here the heart breaking lyrics (english/spanish):

This is the way you left me,
I´m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it´s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

Wake up in the morning, stumble on my life
Can´t get no love without sacrifice
If anything should happen, I guess I wish you well
A little bit of heaven, but a little bit of hell

This is the hardest story that I´ve ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I feel as if I´m wastin´
And I´m wastin´ everyday

(…)

2 o´clock in the morning, something´s on my mind
Can´t get no rest; keep walkin´ around
If I pretend that nothin´ ever went wrong, I can get to my sleep
I can think that we just carried on
